Jason from Los Algodones

As I was moving our new worship leader back from North Carolina, I got an email from one of the DR team members.  She informed me that her Sunday morning BFG had raised the necessary funds to pay for a corrective surgery and rehab for a little Haitian boy named Jason.

We heard about Jason’s plight before we actually met him in Los Algodones.  He was such a hit with so many of our team members.  He craved human interaction, and our team was more than happy to oblige him!! We are unsure what has a hold of his little frame, but we are certain that he is an outcast in his village because of his physical limitations.  As the week wore on, the team felt it was necessary to help with correcting his disability.  JJ’s BFG heard the story upon our team’s return and was obviously burdened with Jason’s condition.

It looks like a doctor in Santo Domingo can help him in late July.  Pray that the doctors can provide corrective surgery in a way that will heal his body and allow him to run with the other children and have a fighting chance to experience live at its fullest… even if it’s in a developing country like the Dominican Republic.

On a side note, it is these stories that make you smile as a church leader.  This is certainly transferrable impact – carried forward into life here in the states.   You hope that your team is changed so much that their lives in the States will see some of that change.  It sounds like it has with a number of our team AND their friends… the circle of influence can be an exciting thing when included in God’s plan.  Good job team!
