As I sit here with both of my boys sleeping (I hope I get to say that a lot in the next few weeks!), I am struck with the maturation process. Seeing H’s little body reminds me just how far LT has come in his development. It also brings to light just how much Continue reading ‘Maturity in Leadership’
Well, this time next week our family will have been increased by one! We will prayerfully welcome little H.E. White into the fold. L.T. has no idea, though at times we wonder if he senses something given the changes to the house and mommy’s belly of course! Please pray that H.E. arrives with a healthy body, and that Trish comes through the operation with flying colors.

… he will be taking the bed with him to school!
Mexican boy glues hand to bed to avoid going back to school
MEXICO CITY – A 10-year-old Mexican boy dreaded returning to school after Christmas break so much that he glued his hand to his bed.
Sandra Palacios spent nearly two hours Monday morning trying to free her son Diego’s hand with water, oil and nail polish remover before calling authorities, police chief Jorge Camacho told The Associated Press from outside the northern city of Monterrey.
“I didn’t want to go to school because vacation was so much fun,” Reforma newspaper quoted the boy as saying.
Palacios said Diego sneaked into the kitchen in the early morning to get the industrial glue, which he then slathered on his right hand. She didn’t hear him get up, but later awoke and found him watching TV with his hand stuck to the bed, she told Mexican newspaper El Universal.
“I don’t know why he did it,” she told Reforma. “He’s a good boy, but mischievous like all kids.”
Diego’s hand was fine, and paramedics managed to unstick him in time for class.
Early Angels
Published October 16, 2007 Children , Fatherhood , First McKinney North , Life after death , Spirituality , faith , heaven 3 CommentsOn Sunday, right after our North Campus worship time, I had the pleasure to lead out in a really unique way. A few families here at FBC have begun a ministry called Early Angels for those couples that have endured miscarriages. Though these tragic events are fairly common in today’s society, what is not common is the knowledge about when/if they do happen. This tends to be the case in the church when families and young children typically roam the range with great volume!
Both campuses held an “Infant Loss Remembrance Service” on Sunday. At North we had a simple, but intimate, time with a few of our families that wanted to celebrate the lives of those babies that never lived to see their very own parents’ faces. I was really nervous because Trish and I have never had to endure this severe heart break in our marriage, and I was at a loss as to what to say to couples that have.
Fortunately we have the Bible and its accounts of how Christ endured pain and heartache. Thru my own tears of compassion for my fellow Christ-followers and friends, all I could muster up were the following passages in Psalms and in John. The passage in Psalms is really validated by what Christ does in the account found in John. We can’t answer why these losses occur, but I do know that Christ understands better than anyone. I left them with a statement that I have heard my pastor use over and over in funeral settings… “As much as you loved your baby, Jesus Christ loved them more. So much more, that he felt it best to call them home early.”
The reality is that I am absolutely blessed to be a dad, but I am scared to death to raise LT and his soon-to-be little brother in a world full of strife and ugliness. It would be the hardest thing for me to face, the death of a child, but I do have hope that heaven is a much better place for anyone – including children… born or unborn.
